You know, I really don’t mean to turn this into a dessert blog. In fact, food was last on my list of topics to blog about when I start Seakettle — after gifts and decorating and stationery and furniture, etc. It just so happens that we’ve been doing a lot of celebrating (yay!) and a lot of entertaining (yay!), and so I’ve been trying a lot of new desserts. I might even be making two more in the next week… so bear with me. I promise to make something out of fabric soon enough!
This week, for my mother-in-law’s birthday, I decided to add a little coffee to her chocolate. Back on epicurious, I found the Frozen Mocha Cake with Chocolate Ganache. Yum! My only modification was to double the ganache for a smoother finish, per several comments. The finished product was both pretty and done in advance, two things I can really appreciate in a recipe! I won’t repeat the whole (long!) recipe, but here are a few process shots for reference.

yum…kahlua 🙂 the cake looks delicious!
It really was delicious. I so appreciate the great trouble my wonderful daughter-in-law takes to make a celebration special. Having only boys (though I really do love boys!) makes me appreciate this all the more.
