A Birthday Banner

This shape is my new favorite for banners! I don’t know what it’s called — notched rectangle? Forked flag? But it works well with plain or patterned paper, with letters or not. It’s so much more fun than triangles, and so much easier to hang than circles!

I made this banner for a first birthday party. I used the colors from the party, but kept the banner generic enough (no mustaches!) that it could be used again, if so desired. I printed the blue letters and cut them out in circles, then attached them to patterned scrapbook paper. Since the banner was hanging on a wall and didn’t need to be viewed from both sides, I was able to just tape the string to the back of the pieces!
